It is a CSR tool, internationally known as Corporate Social Responsibility, as it discloses the actions undertaken and activities carried out by the organisation in this area. The company must thus transparently communicate a set of results on environmental, social and governance (ESG) impacts.
The sustainability report is a useful tool at this precise moment in history, to say the least.
The universally recognised definition of sustainability dates back to 1987:
“Sustainable development is development that enables the present generation to meet its own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs.
With this definition, the concept of sustainability has expanded to include the social and economic dimensions. In sustainability there are metrics, called ESG, which represent the areas in which a company must work to define itself as sustainable. ESG stands for Environment, Social and Governance. What concerns us most is the social sphere, the “S”. The focus of social sustainability is the ability to ensure a fair distribution of human well-being: it aims at quality of life, security and services for citizens.
